STEP INTO SUMMER...

Do you have a fave pair of summer shoes or sandals? Or do you love to walk barefoot across the sand? We asked you how YOU like to step into summer…

Hazel says:
I got these sandals from Macy's (my favourite shop ever!) a few days ago, and I love them! They have a small heel, which is one of the best things about them…  they aren't flat, so I don't feel like I am walking on the ground, but I'm not staggering about in crazy six-inch heels either! They are really comfy as well, and equally perfect for exploring the streets of San Francisco or for strolling around a museum. They are awesome!

Manda says:
This pic was taken last summer… it was one of those sunny days when it's not too hot, just perfect, and it seemed a good idea to go out into the garden and sketch characters from Les Mis. I probably don't spend as much time outside as I should - I'm not good at the sunbathing thing, but drawing was cool! This was my first attempt at drawing anything Les Mis related and I have definitely improved since then… but I don't think I got much of a tan!

Nettie says:
My dress sense is usually described as a cross between shabby chic and hippy by my friends! The dress is from Joe Browns - everything they make is gorgeous. It's great for summer days because you don't get too hot… and the boots are my bright pink Doc Martens. They took a while to break in, but now I wear them everywhere! They are summery to me because of the colour - the bright pink fits in with bright summer colours and because the British weather is so lovely *cough*… when it rains, at least my feet stay dry!

Eden says:
I love the summer because after wearing big clumpy winter shoes I can have my feet in the sun. I love feeling the sand on my feet… it makes my feet feel soft and smooth! I like to walk on the stones to toughen up my feet and I love to feel the warm grass on my feet too. I have lots of different coloured flip-flops so I can wear a different pair every day. I love to take off my school shoes and run down to the beach and paddle in the sea…

Blue says:
Well, it's summer, and these are my feet… does that count? These are my strawberry socks, so they ARE summery, I guess. They were given to me by my mum who bought them for herself but then decided they'd suit me better. I'm standing on a patch of grass behind our house… it's not our garden, exactly, but I'm not trespassing… I'm allowed to be there. And no, I am not taking my socks off… this is Scotland, remember?

Cathy says:
Brilliant… I am a boots girl and try to hang onto them at all times, although I do have a pair of flowery canvas boots… that's as summery unless there's a serious heatwave! What are YOUR fave summer shoes? COMMENT BELOW and share the love!

  1. I don't really have a pair of favourite summer shoes, but I do love my pink and grey converse sneakers, and my blue Havaianas flip-flops are really useful for going to the beach or pool! :D

    1. YAY FOR MIZZIES! AND I'M LITERALLY THE LAST PERSON YOU NEED TO APOLOGISE TO FOR LOVING/FANGIRING OVER LES MIS JUST SAYING.

Haha, I'm literally obsessed, possibly more than I've been with anything else ever before... I've seen the film, I gave up all other presents to see the show in the west end for my birthday, I got the (unabridged, obviously!) book for Christmas and am finally somewhere in the last 200 pages now, and I've seen like 4 or 5 non musical film adaptations besides...

For a long time my fave character(like the average teenage girl introduced to it via the musical, pretty much!!) was Eponine. Now, especially after reading the book, I have way too many. I still love Eponine a lot(though I think the book version is a lot more interesting than the somewhat softened and romanticised musical version), but other favourites include Javert, Gavroche, Valjean, Grantaire, Combeferre, Jean Prouvaire, Feuilly(I just love all the barricade boys tbh now I've gotten to know them better), the Bishop of Digne, and if I include bookverse only people, Father Mabeuf is a sweetie ^_^

I'm assuming you mean the end of the musical/film? I definitely have cried at musical, film and book, at different points, and yes the end of the musical does make me very emotional and I usually cry in a happy way when Eponine and Fantine come and the whole 'To love another person' line happens and then all the people come and sing the finale :') Sometimes I do get a bit desensitised if I've seen something a lot of times and I'm generally very random in what I do and do not cry at at any given time, but yes it does make me cry!!

Since musical theatre is one of my favourite things ever I do have a bit of an ambition to play Eponine on stage at some point, though I'd be pretty happy to play Fantine too or even Cosette if I had the vocal range... I do sometimes wish I could swap gender though because I also want to play so many of the male roles and ACTUALLY I JUST WANT TO PLAY EVERYONE AT ONCE TO BE HONEST XD

So yeah... anyway I think the point I'm trying to make is yay you love Les Mis too hello nice to meet you ;P

  3. Most of the time I go barefoot. However, I have a pair of very old sandals. They're probably about 11 years old because my mum wore them when she was pregnant. They are brown and look slightly rustic as they are worn. They also have a flower where the strap that runs along the top of the foot meets the band going over just before your toes
All my friends have complimented me- they have no idea the shoes are older than I am!

  4. I love Les Mis, too! @Chameleon (/Laura) my favourite character is Eponine. Sorry, my computer doesn't do the little mark on top of the E.
Adding to the blog, I like bare feet.

    1. MORE MIZZIES/CC FANS YAY!!

      Eponine's cool :3

And I know I'm on my computer now and finding it pretty annoying too, I just keep looking at it and thinking something's missing, especially as my ipod just adds the special accents automatically because I've taught it well :P

  8. I love lace-up boots. Actually, I just like most boots. Or just any shoes that fit me, are comfy and look nice - my feet are size 8 and really narrow so it's very hard to find a pair that match all 3 of those requirements. I'm probably one of the few girls who hate shoe shopping - it's torture!

  9. I like wearing flip flops or nothing at all if i'm in my garden.
